A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive, one-on-one evaluation conducted by a psychologist or psychological associate. The goal is to understand a person's cognitive, academic, and social-emotional functioning. The assessment identifies learning strengths, weaknesses, and if warranted, disabilities. The assessment results allow the assessor to provide tailored recommendations designed to improve performance in school or work environments.
A psychoeducational assessment involves the use of standardized tests, clinical interviews and behavioural questionnaires completed by the student, parents, and/or teachers.

- Other challenges that impact academic functioning
A Foundations Psychology, psychoeducational assessments are completed in keeping with the guidelines and expectations of local school boards, as well as colleges and universities. These assessments can be instrumental in ensuring that students receive appropriate support and/or academic accommodation so that the student can achieve to the best of their ability and thrive in their learning environment.
